Gaming is a huge sector in the entertainment industry and like a lot of things, the sector is dominated by a few options and debates are had by the fans of each to pick which is better. The big screen and better graphics of computers or the small screen and the on-the-go access, which would you prefer? From my perspective, this is a relaxed and friendly debate that could help someone decide if they want to take the hit and get a computer to game, or if they want to stick by their phone and keep the handled aspect.
Convenience
Looking at convenience, mobile gaming isn’t going to be popped by any gaming device. Whether you are waiting for a friend, on your lunch break or relaxing in your living room you can play games anywhere by simply picking your phone out of your pocket.
Laptop Ease
There are a few things that make the ease of mobile gaming top notch and these are some of the reasons why fans are massive fans of mobile gaming. One of the best things about it is having the download be a few clicks away makes it so much easier for players including me, it keeps the gaming simple and easy.
In a similar vein, downloading games is so much harder on computers, to run some games you need to download and also have some room in case there are any big updates or additional files that come with the game. There are some examples where this wouldn’t be as necessary and one would be using your computer to find the list the best sites to play at, most of the time when playing slots you don’t need to download anything onto your computer. However, a lot of the biggest slots aren’t computer-compatible and would require you to use your phone anyway.
As well as this you can play a wide range of games at any time. Sometimes I have 15 minutes where I am waiting for something and in that time I whip out my phone and start playing some games to keep me busy and it always works a treat. Sometimes I play a game and I’m not really feeling it and I can easily switch over by just closing the app.
This is a luxury to me, I struggle sometimes to focus on one thing and the ease of switching over while still having my phone run smoothly is something more difficult for a computer because the bootup system takes a bit longer. It also helps that a lot of the mobile games are free to play and can be bought by anyone. Sometimes I am unsure about a game and don’t want to pay money for it like I would have to with my computer, but like I said earlier, most phone games are free to play so I can easily delete them without caring.
PC Ease
PC gaming is different because you have to play in a specific space compared to mobile gaming and even with the mobility of laptops, the phone still wins when it comes to the accessibility of gaming devices. PC gaming is a more expensive hobby, you need to have money, space and time ready for PC gaming and this could be seen as a negative but this is what I love about computer gaming.
Like I said before, PC gaming is not portable but its convenience goes beyond that. Although being able to play wherever is nice, having one specific place dedicated to your gaming is really fun and makes gaming feel more like a hobby rather than a time waster. Also, the power of the computers compared to the phones is a major positive for the players, and this is due to the stationary side of the computer. The computer does not need to use its hardware to move around, so all of the power can be used to power the PC to its highest potential.
The way you play games is massively different on each device. My favourite thing about gaming on a computer is the control that you get in each game, mobile gaming is often criticized for its bad controls and lack of control, so when you go from playing on your phone to on a laptop or PC, you will never want to go back. Even with better controls, you can still improve it by changing the keybinds of the games you play to make it more comfortable for you. This goes into another aspect that makes PC gaming better and it is customisation. Not only can you change the controls of your games but you can also change the software and hardware to make the computer run a lot better. I recently played UFC 4 on the PC and it completely changed my experience compared to when I play on other devices.
Performances
Phone Experience
Both sectors of gaming have drastically improved their gameplay a lot, with graphics being one of the most improved things around the gaming world in general. Getting a high-end phone allows you to see the best graphics possible and sometimes I will catch myself playing a game and being shocked by how good it looks on my phone. In a similar fashion to this, you can see the improvement of the tech with the way the games run. Games are running more smoothly and have less lagging which makes my overall gaming experience better.
PC Experience
Everything that can be said about the graphics on the mobile can be said 100x on PC. Laptops and PCs are probably the best devices to run games on and can be one of the most immersive and impressive experiences in the gaming industry, You can run games that look otherworldly and make you feel like you are there which is something that you sometimes miss when you play on other devices, especially a mobile or tablet.
The Prices
Mobile gaming is more of a benefit that comes with your phone, very few people are buying phones with the sole purpose of gaming on them which is slightly different to PC gaming simply because gaming PCs are a thing that people spend a lot of money on.
In the mobile gaming industry, you can see the ease that comes with playing these games. Nearly everyone on earth has a mobile device and downloading games that are free to play and easy for people of any age to pick up and play, is the reason why mobile gaming is one of the most popular sectors in the world. You also don’t need to upgrade or buy any extra equipment to play these games, you can just load up Candy Crush and get to playing.
PC gaming is different because the prices are a lot more drastic and upped compared to the price of a mobile phone. Unfortunately, when you buy a PC you need to buy a monitor or two, a keyboard and a mouse before you can even start downloading games and playing, but when you do play, you will see the difference. The graphics, the way the games run so smoothly and the extra benefits that come with PC gaming all make the price worth it. When you spend this much money, you need to be committed and realise that every time you play, you are paying for the experience.
